Web Design in Derbyshire
Professional websites for businesses that want more than a template.
What We Build
Most businesses don't need a complicated web application — they need a well-built website that looks professional, loads fast, and turns visitors into enquiries. That's what we do.
We build brochure websites for local businesses and tradespeople, multi-page sites that target specific search terms, and landing pages designed around a single service or location. Every site is custom-designed and hand-coded — not assembled from a page builder or WordPress theme.
There's nothing wrong with templates if speed is the priority. But templates come with trade-offs: bloated code, generic layouts, slow load times, and the same design as a hundred other businesses in your industry. When a potential customer is comparing you against three competitors, "same as everyone else" isn't a winning position.
Our sites are built on clean, fast code. They're designed to work properly on every screen size, load in under two seconds, and be straightforward for search engines to understand. We also make sure the content hierarchy makes sense for the people who'll actually be reading it — not just for how it looks in a screenshot.
- Brochure websites for local businesses and tradespeople
- Multi-page business sites built with SEO from the ground up
- Service area landing pages (e.g. "plumber in Uttoxeter")
- Informational and lead-generation sites for professional services
- Custom-designed, hand-coded — not templates
Who It's For
We work with businesses across Derbyshire, and the wider East Midlands. Most of our web design clients fall into one of a few categories.
Tradespeople and small contractors — security engineers, electricians, plumbers, builders, decorators — who've been getting by on word of mouth but want to look more credible online and start picking up work from Google. A solid website with the right local SEO can mean the difference between getting calls and being invisible.
Local businesses ready to move beyond social media — a Facebook page or Instagram profile is a starting point, but you don't own it, you can't control the layout, and you can't optimise it for search. A proper website gives you a permanent home online that works for you around the clock.
Professional services and hospitality — solicitors, accountants, letting agents, restaurants, guesthouses, and similar businesses where first impressions genuinely matter. If someone finds you online and your website looks like it was built in 2012, that's the first thing they'll think about when deciding whether to call.
We've built sites for businesses in the security industry, property sector, hospitality, and trades. The industries are different, but the underlying problem is usually the same: the website isn't working hard enough.
Our Approach
We start every project with a proper conversation about the business — what you do, who your customers are, how they typically find you, and what a successful outcome looks like. A website for a tradesperson quoting for domestic work has different priorities to a site for a letting agent managing commercial properties. We want to understand your situation before we design anything.
Design comes next. We design for the people who'll actually use the site — not for design award submissions. That means clear navigation, obvious calls to action, and content arranged in the order that makes sense for someone deciding whether to pick up the phone. We share mockups before writing a single line of code, so you can see the direction and give feedback early.
The build itself is done properly. We use Laravel for server-side work and Tailwind CSS for styling — modern, well-maintained tools that produce clean, fast output. Pages are structured with correct HTML semantics, which matters for both accessibility and search engines. We don't use bloated page builders that pad a 50KB page to 2MB.
SEO is built in from the start, not bolted on at the end. That means correct heading structure, descriptive meta titles and descriptions, structured data (schema markup), fast load times, and clean URLs. We also think about internal linking — how pages relate to each other — and make sure the content itself is genuinely useful, which is what search engines are ultimately trying to reward.
The J4 Security Systems website is a good example of our approach in practice. J4 are an NSI Silver-approved security installer based in the East Midlands. We built them a site that clearly communicates their credentials, targets the right local search terms, and gives potential customers an easy path to an enquiry. It looks professional because it is professional — and it reflects the quality of their actual work.
What It Costs
We're not going to give you a price without understanding what you need — that would be doing you a disservice. But we can tell you what the typical ranges look like so you can decide whether to get in touch.
A professional business website typically costs between £1,500 and £5,000. Where your project lands in that range depends on:
- Number of pages — a five-page brochure site is a different scope to a fifteen-page site with service area pages and a blog
- Custom features — contact forms and enquiry routing are standard; booking systems, customer portals, or integrations with third-party tools add to the scope
- Content — whether you're providing copy and images, or whether you need us to write the content for you
- Ongoing work — a one-off build has a different price to a build plus ongoing maintenance and monthly SEO work
We quote fixed prices after understanding the brief. That means no hourly rate surprises and no creeping invoices — you know what you're paying before we start. If the scope changes significantly mid-project, we'll agree a revised price before proceeding.
We offer a free initial consultation — a 30-minute call or meeting where we talk through what you need, what's realistic, and what we'd recommend. There's no obligation. If we're not the right fit, we'll tell you.
