What is CallPoint?

CallPoint is a fire alarm log book for iPhone, based on BS 5839-1. It suggests which call point to test each week, lets you log the weekly test in a few taps, keeps faults, false alarms, disablements, service visits and other events in one timeline, and exports a PDF log book.

Who is it for?

Responsible persons, premises and building managers, HMO landlords, and the fire alarm engineers who look after their systems.

Is CallPoint available yet?

Not yet. CallPoint is coming soon to the App Store. This page will link to it as soon as it’s live.

How does the call point rotation work?

Add each manual call point once. CallPoint then suggests the next one to test, so a different call point is used each week, and shows which call points are due, behind the rotation or not yet tested. If a weekly test fails, the App opens a fault form with the details filled in.

How does CallPoint relate to BS 5839-1?

CallPoint is based on BS 5839-1 and helps you keep the records BS 5839-1 recommends. It is a record-keeping tool: it does not test, inspect or certify your system, and it does not replace the service certificate from your fire alarm engineer. CallPoint is not affiliated with or endorsed by BSI or any certification body.

How do I export the PDF log book?

Open a site, choose Export PDF, pick the date range and sections you need, then share, print or save it to Files. The log tables print on A4 landscape pages. Entries that have been edited are marked as edited on the PDF.

What does the free version include?

One active site with full logging, reminders, PDF export and iCloud sync across your devices. There are no ads and no time limit.

What does CallPoint Pro include?

Unlimited sites, archiving of old sites, and your company name, logo and contact details on PDFs. Pro is £14.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or £34.99 once for lifetime access.

How do I cancel the yearly subscription or free trial?

Open the Settings app, then go to [your name] → Subscriptions → CallPoint and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial or current year ends to avoid being charged. Deleting the App does not cancel the subscription.

How do I restore my Pro purchase?

Open the CallPoint Pro screen in the App and tap “Restore purchase”. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID you used to buy Pro.

What happens if my subscription ends?

Nothing is deleted. You choose one site to keep editing; the other sites stay viewable and can still be exported to PDF.

Where is my data stored? Do I need to sign up?

No sign-up is needed. Your log book is kept in the app, so your records stay with you. iCloud sync keeps your records in your own private iCloud account. We cannot see your data. See the Privacy Policy.

Do I need an internet connection?

No. You can log tests and events and export PDFs without a connection. iCloud sync catches up the next time you are online.

How do I move my log book to a new iPhone?

Turn on Sync with iCloud on both devices using the same Apple ID and your records will sync. Your data is also included in your normal iPhone backup and restore. Exporting a PDF is also a good way to keep a copy.

I’m not getting weekly reminders

Check that notifications are allowed for CallPoint in iOS Settings → Notifications, and that a reminder day and time are set for the site in the App. Focus modes can also hide reminders.
