D4N LTD ("we", "us", "our") operates the Laylo mobile application ("Laylo"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use Laylo.
Data We Collect
Laylo is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data:
- No account required. You do not need to create an account or provide personal information to use Laylo.
- Local storage only. All egg logs, hen profiles, health records, incubation data, and settings are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
- iCloud sync (optional, Pro only). If you enable iCloud sync, your data syncs across your devices using Apple's CloudKit. This data is stored in your personal iCloud account and is not accessible to us.
Location Data
Laylo requests location access to calculate sunrise and sunset times for your area. This is used to display the farmyard day/night cycle and to suggest optimal reminder times. Location data is processed on-device only and is never transmitted to our servers or any third party.
Third-Party Services
Google AdMob. The free version of Laylo displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob on the Today, History, and Insights screens. Google may collect and use data in accordance with their privacy policy, including device identifiers and coarse location for ad delivery and measurement. Where required by law (including the UK and EU), we show a consent form on first launch via Google's User Messaging Platform; you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Ad privacy options. Pro users do not see any ads, and no ad-related data is collected for Pro users.
If you grant App Tracking Transparency permission when prompted, your Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) may be shared with Google to personalise ads. Denying the prompt means you will see non-personalised ads. You can change this decision at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Apple StoreKit. In-app purchases are processed by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information. Apple's terms and privacy policy apply to all transactions.
APHA / USDA alert feeds. Laylo fetches public avian-influenza alerts from government feeds (APHA for UK users, USDA for US users). These requests are not associated with any user identifier.
Data We Do Not Collect
- We do not collect your name, email address, or phone number
- We do not use analytics SDKs (aside from AdMob's ad-delivery measurement for free users)
- We do not sell, trade, or transfer your personal data to third parties
- We do not store any user data on our servers
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to us:
- Daily egg logs and counts
- Hen profiles (name, breed, hatch date, notes, photos)
- Health records (treatments, supplements, observations, weight checks)
- Incubation batch data (temperature, humidity, egg status, milestones)
- Reminders and notification preferences
- App settings and preferences
Children's Privacy
Laylo is rated 4+ and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app does not require any personal information to function.
Your Rights (UK GDPR)
As a UK-based company, we comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation. Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data for us to provide, correct, or delete. All your data is stored locally on your device and in your iCloud account (if sync is enabled), and is under your control.
You can revoke ad-personalisation consent at any time by revisiting the Ad privacy options form in Settings, or by changing App Tracking Transparency in iOS Settings. You can delete all app data by uninstalling Laylo from your device.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
