Terms of Use
KnownGood: Test Instrument Record — Last updated: 18 October 2026
Apple’s Standard EULA: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/
These Terms of Use govern your use of the KnownGood: Test Instrument Record mobile application ("the App") published by D4N LTD ("we", "us", "our"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these terms.
Licence
The App is licensed to you under Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement (EULA). These Terms of Use add to the EULA. If anything here conflicts with the EULA, the EULA applies.
What the App Does
KnownGood is a record-keeping tool for test instruments. It helps you keep each instrument’s calibration certificates and due dates, your own checks against a reference between certificates, repairs and other events, with a PDF export of each instrument’s record.
Independent app, not affiliated with or endorsed by any assessment scheme.
Record Only
Record only. KnownGood does not verify, calibrate or certify any instrument. Readings outside the baseline and tolerance you set are marked Flagged as a prompt for you to look into; this is not a verdict on the instrument. You remain responsible for:
- Deciding whether an instrument is fit to use, and sending it to a suitable calibration lab when its certificate is due
- The correctness and completeness of everything you enter, including baselines, tolerances and reference details
- Checking your records against any requirements of your employer, insurer or customers
- Keeping your own copies of your records, for example by exporting PDFs regularly
Reminders depend on iOS and your notification settings and may not always appear. Do not rely on the App as your only reminder of when a certificate is due.
Free Version and KnownGood Pro
The App is free to download. The free version covers one active instrument with certificates, checks, events, reminders and PDF export. KnownGood Pro adds unlimited instruments, your company name, logo and contact details on PDFs, and iCloud sync across your devices.
KnownGood Pro is available as:
- KnownGood Pro Yearly: £24.99 per year, an auto-renewing subscription, with a 7-day free trial for eligible new subscribers
- KnownGood Pro Lifetime: £74.99, a one-time purchase that does not renew
Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT where applicable. Prices in other countries are set by the App Store and shown before you buy.
Subscriptions and Auto-Renewal
- Payment will be charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
- The yearly subscription automatically renews unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period, at the then-current price.
- If you start a free trial, you will be charged when the trial ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings after purchase (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions). Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
- If we change the subscription price, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask for your consent before the new price applies.
If Pro Ends
If your subscription ends, nothing is deleted. Your first-added instrument that is in use stays editable on the free version; your other instruments stay viewable and can still be exported to PDF, and iCloud sync pauses until Pro is active again.
Purchases, Restores and Refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and are subject to Apple’s terms. We do not process payments directly.
- You can restore purchases on any device signed in with the same Apple ID using Restore Purchases in the App’s Settings
- Refunds are handled by Apple under its refund policy. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com
- Your rights as a consumer under UK law are not affected
Your Data
The records you create are yours. They are kept in the App and, if you use iCloud sync (Pro), in your own private iCloud account. See our Privacy Policy for details. PDF records generated by the App are yours to use, share and keep.
Intellectual Property
The App, its design, code and content are the property of D4N LTD. You may not copy, modify, distribute or reverse-engineer any part of the App, except as permitted by law. Instrument makes and model names you enter belong to their owners.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following Apple services:
- Apple StoreKit for in-app purchases, subject to Apple’s Media Services Terms
- Apple CloudKit for iCloud sync (Pro only), subject to Apple’s iCloud Terms
The App contains no advertising and no third-party analytics.
Availability and Changes to the App
We may update, change or discontinue the App. If we discontinue it, the records already kept in the App stay available to you for as long as the App keeps working. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it.
Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the laws of England and Wales.
Subject to that, D4N LTD is not liable for any loss arising from the condition or readings of any instrument, from missed, late or wrong records, from reliance on reminders or Flagged markers, or for any indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you in connection with the App is limited to the amount you paid for KnownGood Pro in the 12 months before the claim.
Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales, although if you live elsewhere in the UK you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated terms.
